As Nigeria music evolves
internationally especially in the hip hop world. You find local stars
doing the rap culture in their native tongue instilling a sense of
identity. The creativity in display trills audience both locally and
internationally, with a wide range of play of words. Readily, the likes
of Olamide, Illblis, Phyno, Reminisce, and so on comes to mind.
So, in a bid to dissect and appreciate this trending style which has no doubt promoted our local languages globally, last weekend Rickkyz caught up with Middlebelt Entertainment prodigy, the fast rising multi talented Indigenous Benue Rap king - Adah Simon Nathaniel popularly known as Tico Oyiadah. Apart from hailing from the same region with the popular Tuface Idibia, Tico Oyiadah is a bundle of talent. You could practical feel the talent oozing out of him... His style is non compared to any indigenous artist I have come across so far. Coupled with his looks, I bet the ladies are in for a kill. Lol!
Like many others before him, Tico started from the church back then in Lagos with the likes of Papii J the Alingo producer, lamboggini the master lover lover, Leo Wonder among others. In his words " growing up from a humble background and listening to hip hop gurus like Nas, The Game, Biggie all introduced me to the Rap culture, and listening to Tuface and Sakordie inspires my current style of music". Tico called his kind of music "GOOD MUSIC" because he believes in using his music to touch and transform lives. He has inspired a lot of upcoming artist both from grassroot and outside in the country with his hard inspirational lyrics
No wonder recently, Tico Oyiadah was presented with the award of 1st Indigenous Hip Hop Rapper from Benue State, and was awarded King of Hip Hop artist in 2013 by Iceqoute. #Alogaene which means "we have come" is a popular word used by Tico, and no doubt he is truly living up to expectation with his latest hit track "Believe". The much talked about hit single jamming in local radio stations and clubs in Nigeria could be termed the future of Indigenous hip hop in Nigeria. The passion and emotions coupled with good production singles out this all time hit. Thanking his fans for the huge traffic and numerous downloads he has gotten so far online, Tico is most grateful to his Manager Obakzy for the numerous encouragement and support he has shown this far.
